it's about time

Some old friends and I were talking tonight about people we know and what they're doing with their lives these daze, how far they've come. I believe everyone of us has a moment when our time has arrived. Some of us have to wait longer than others, some of us may not recognise opportunities first time round that could lead to that moment, but eventually the universe will allow us to reach a place in our life where we get a chance to shine, to arrive. I'm still waiting and learning patience at the same time. It's not always easy, but I'm prepared to continue along on my merry way

In the meantime I'd like to sing you all a Dolly Parton song, but my karaoke machine's on the blink so you'll have to come back another time...

btw the pic is a 12 bulb hourglass

Hi Nash,
My time hasn’t come, because I’ve always aspired to having boobs like Ms. Parton but haven’t obtained them yet…maybe next year.

This is a thought provoking post for me. My Mother was verbally abusive to me throughout my childhood, reiterating things like “you’re stupid” or “you’ll never amount to anything” yah-dada, yah-dada. Consequently, for years I considered myself dumb and never tried to do anything too difficult, despite the fact that I did graduate from college and could’ve done more. Two years ago I had a drastic turn about in my life that caused me reevaluate everything in the past. Through this process of “soul searching”, I’ve come to realize there are a myriad of things I’m capable of accomplishing and have been striving to expand my universe in positive, creative ways ever since. I may never reach the top of the mountain, but at least I’m walking towards the pinnacle every day.

You may already be shining and just aren’t aware of it.

Hi Miss Litzi,
Thanks for your comments. I think it's possibly only in hindsight that we see what we've actually achieved, but as we continue the journey there will be times when we feel/know we're on the right track.

I was prompted to write this post after discussing a friend who once was at a very low point in her life, but now she's the happiest she's ever been - a complete turn around.

I also had in mind an artist I know of who never achieved success or acclaim until she was in her 50s

I haven't "arrived" yet, but I am committed to making the journey as exciting as possible in the meantime.

I like the bit about "some of us may not recognise opportunities first time round". I think I need to be less hard on myself.

What Dolly song would you sing and will you be wearing a wig whilst performing it?

Thanks for this post.. it has inspired me to write a story!

Opportunities come along and teach us things all our lives... I am still waiting to 'fit into my skin' as a result... The universe has sent me lots of great opportunities, but at the same time, taken them off me when I have gotten all excited about them, leaving me feeling deflated, but then I get back on the horse and try again... hence the tittle of my blog - The Patient Man.

Miss Litzi comment that "you may already be shining and just aren't aware of it" is poignantly powerful - my friends say the same of me... but I want MORE! I want more and expect more from me and my life... I want one of these opportunities to stick so I can finally 'grow' into my skin... patience, dear boy, patience.

You have a lovely blog overall though.. thanks for your talent.

Craig
